This book tells the story of a very small caterpillar that comes from an egg and begins eating EVERYTHING in sight， and finally it it no longer hungry and no longer a little small thing。 Over time the caterpillar builds a cocoon around himself and becomes a great big butterfly。I gave this book a 5 star rating because it is everyones favorite from when they where once children， it teaches the life of a caterpillar and also just draws children in with the colors and the fun pages inside。

I had not read this book since I was young and I thoroughly enjoyed it！ This book has a lot of overlapping colors displayed in the fruit and the sun and I think Carle really played with what was the most realistic while still being cartoon-like。 I like how the dirt actually looks like dirt， and the plumbs look delicious enough to eat！
